Marc Cohen

Biography
Professor Marc Cohen is currently the Foundation Professor of Complementary Medicine at RMIT University where he is responsible for the newly established online, Master of Wellness Program along with conducting many yoga-related research projects. He is Immediate Past President of the Australasian Integrative Medicine Association (President from 2000-2007) and is registered general practitioner in Victoria with degrees in western medicine, physiology and psychological medicine along with PhDs in both Chinese medicine and biomedical engineering. He is an Expert Advisor to the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administrations (TGA) Complementary Medicine Evaluation Committee (CMEC) and sits on the Editorial and Advisory Boards of a number of national and international journals and research organisations. He is co-editor of the book "Understanding the Global Spa and Wellness Industry" and co-author of "Herbs and Natural Supplements an Evidenced Based Guide" which was short listed for the Award for Excellence in Educational Publishing.

If yoga is to be adopted within the mainstream health system its benefits must be demonstrated through properly conducted research. This session will explore how the yoga and research communities may collaborate to identify the most relevant research questions, agree on standardised yoga interventions, and engage a critical mass of researchers.
